An intimate acoustic charango concert — an instrument brought from the Andes to Catalan soil — alongside Gani’s Arabic oud, ancestor of the charango, the guitar and so many others, and the voice and percussion of Caro Chacana.

The Narín is the home of Kurdish musician Gani Mirzo, a leading figure of the Arab-Kurdish oud in Spain, and it supports Khanasore Music School, a free music school in Sinjar, northern Iraq, for children and families who survived the Yazidi genocide. Come hungry and thirsty: everything you order goes to the school.

Manifesto

The charango never rests,

and I don’t want it to either.

I learned it from teachers who handed it to me generously, I went looking for it in Bolivia, where it was born, and today I play it and sing it far from home, in Barcelona.

I believe Andean and Latin American music cannot stay stuck in nostalgia: it has to keep being taught, composed and listened to. That is why I work so that new generations of performers and listeners, in Chile, in Latin America and in Europe, take it up and carry it further.
